Today ensuing this week’s earlier release of iOS 10.1 beta 1, Apple has issued the first iOS 10.0.x update to the general public: iOS 10.0.2. But what features does the new firmware introduce and does it impact jailbreaking? Let’s find out!
iOS 10.0.2 Changes
According to iOS 10.0.2’s changelog, the firmware includes the following revisions over its predecessor:
- Addresses an issue that could prevent headphone audio controls from temporarily not working
- Resolves an issue that caused Photos to quit for some users when turning on iCloud Photo Library
- Fixes an issue that prevented enabling some app extensions
That’s it, seriously iOS 10.0.2 is an incredibly minor update over the first public iteration of iOS 10!
Jailbreaking and iOS 10.0.2
What about jailbreaking? Thankfully due to the fact that iOS 10.0.2 doesn’t introduce much, its impact on jailbreaking is negligible. It doesn’t even include any new security improvements, as the screenshot embedded above from Apple’s security notes page confirms.
iOS 10.1 on the other hand is a different story – developers will most likely opt to wait until iOS 10.1’s release before pushing out the next jailbreak (for more information on the subject, watch the above video)!
